CHRISTMAS!... and then taking on the Matterhorn

This year was a great christmas! On Christmas morning we (Andy, Mom, and Dad) went to the airport to pick up Tom. He was our first christmas present. After driving home, we began to distribute and open presents. The final present that we opened was the gift Tom brought with him from all the family!

Here is the order of events:

FIRST:
Mom opening the gift with Dad, both wondering what on earth it could be.
SECOND:

Opening it up to find the scrapbook/photos from everybody. Mom LOVED it! (her love is shown below :) haha)

The next day we took off for a ski resort called Cervinia in the Alps. Me and Tom had a great time skiing while Mom and Dad went on a hike leading up to the Matterhorn. After dodging rolling ice boulders and hiking for an hour, Mom and Dad conquered the mountain by hiking it and Tom and I conquered it by skiing. Tons of fun!

And no trip up in the mountains is complete without Mom begging for pictures to be taken. After continual nagging, Mom finally got us (more like continual nagging on Me), up to a perfect place to take a picture of the family with our ITALIA sweaters on and the Matterhorn in the background.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

GREAT post Andy! I couldn't help but remember our Christmas morning in Italy, that sounds very similar to Toms this year!

And thank goodness for Vicki's "picture bugging" because that picture ROCKS!!
Rod and I have wanted to get sweaters like that since we were there 2 years ago!

oh yeah, also...

When Tom and I were up late trying to finish our pages before he left to Italy, we were acting out how we thought Vicki would react to the book.

I can imagine her saying "Now, what on earth could it be?" just like you said in your post, Andy.

Just for the record, was there a small tear shed and did she have to sit down after it was opened?

We'll see what we can do about getting everybody a sweatshirt. They're cheap, so the money is not a problem. The problem is we've only seen them at Rimini, the beach resort 4 hours from here. Dad goes there once every 6 weeks for interviews so he'll see what he can do.

No tears over the scrapbook. Just tons and tons of joy, jubilation, awe, gratefulness, esteem, and LOVE! I couldn't put it down for the first 24 hours, even took it on our trip to Cervinia, and looked at it every spare minute we had there. I'm still taking it to bed with me and memorizing each page. Dad loves it too, but isn't quite as obsessed with it as me. What a treasure! Thank-you, from the bottom of our hearts. :) :).
